As a child who was shy, I loved the story of the ugly duckling who turned into a beautiful swan. My dream was to take all the other people who wanted to be more, and we could all transform together.
I am excited about the possibilities of what we each have to offer, and that our potential is beyond what we can imagine. To me, transformation is about liberating ourselves from our own blocks so that we can create a life of love, joy, peace and abundance.

Professional Biography
Karen Brunger is a globally recognized leader, mentor, and innovator in the image consulting industry, with a career spanning over four decades. As the founder and president of the International Image Institute Inc., she has trained and mentored image consultants worldwide, equipping them with the expertise, tools, and systems to create lasting impact.
Karen’s contributions to the field are extensive. She coined the now-universal phrase “the ABCs of image consulting” — appearance, behaviour, and communication — a framework used by image consultants around the world. She has presented in 14 countries, authored 16 books, co-authored four, and contributed to numerous industry publications. She has developed 45 colour and image tools for both in-person and virtual consultations, and she is the creator of Colorology™, a personal colour palette app. Her comprehensive online training programs cover all core competencies of image consulting, ensuring that professionals at every stage of their journey have access to world-class education.
Beyond image consulting, Karen is the creator of Source Alignment Energy Shifting, a transformational personal development system designed to facilitate deep, lasting change. Her dedication to professional excellence has been recognized through two AICI Awards of Excellence, as well as the prestigious Jane Segerstrom Award, which honours individuals who have made a global impact in the image industry. She has also served in key leadership roles, including AICI International President, Canada Chapter President, and International VP of Education.

Karen Brunger: Pioneering Color Analysis Expert and Innovator of the 23-Palette System
Karen Brunger has been a trailblazer in the field of color analysis for over four decades. She was among the first in Canada to be formally trained in seasonal color analysis, completing her program with the renowned company Seasons on April 1, 1984. After Seasons closed its doors, Karen seamlessly stepped into the role of trainer, sharing her expertise and advancing the practice of personal color analysis.
Initially, Karen taught the well-established 4-season system. However, as she worked with more clients and trained more consultants, she recognized that not everyone fit neatly into a single season. Responding to this, she created tools to assess the 6 flow palettes, which allowed for greater nuance - identifying a client’s “home” season along with the season they might “flow” into.
As the popularity of color analysis grew and consultants sought even greater precision, Karen continued to innovate. In 1991, Karen began creating her own line of color analysis tools, leading to the development of the 10-palette ‘true’ system, which expanded the classic four seasons by adding six intermediate flows.
As demand for even more refinement increased, Karen went on to design tools for the 16-palette subseason system and later introduced the 22-palette precision system. To accommodate clients who are balanced across all three color dimensions, she added the Universal palette, bringing the total to a groundbreaking 23 season color analysis system - the most comprehensive personal color analysis framework available today.
Karen Brunger’s 23-palette system remains one of the most advanced frameworks in modern color analysis. Her tools give consultants the flexibility to work with the 4-season, 10-season, 16-season, or 22-season color analysis system, with the option to incorporate the Universal palette.
In 2025, Karen launched the Colorology™ app, an innovative platform designed to support color consultants in providing personalized recommendations while generating ongoing income. The app brings her decades of expertise into the digital era, making advanced color analysis more accessible and practical.
