As a future image consultant, your canvas extends beyond fabric – it encompasses confidence and credibility. Here’s how you’ll shape appearances and facilitate transformations with precision:
A: Appearance
- Colour Analysis – Ever wondered why some colours make you glow while others leave you feeling blah? As an Image consultant you’ll decode this mystery, identifying the hues that harmonize with clients’ unique undertone.
- Style – Beyond trends lies personal style. Guide clients toward authenticity and a personal style that aligns with their unique shape and personality.
- Wardrobe – Imagine closets as treasure chests. You’ll declutter and curate a wardrobe that speaks to your client’s individuality.
- Personal Shopping – Retail therapy with purpose! You’ll handpick pieces that align with clients’ goals.
- Makeup/Hair – Suggest makeup and hair enhancement techniques for facial features, personality, and functions
- Grooming & Hygiene: From skincare routines to fragrance finesse, ensure impeccable presentation.
- Aesthetics and Poise: Posture, gestures, and body language – refine these elements for impactful presence.
B: Behaviour
Beyond aesthetics, behaviour leaves indelible impressions. As an image consultant, you’ll be their guide through social and corporate landscapes:
- Etiquette & Protocol – Coach clients on social grace and professional polish, including power dining, host and guest duties, the art of conversation, and event planning.
- Holistic Wellness – Advocate for well-being. Share insights on maintaining physical and mental health.
- Attitude – Positivity breeds success. Help clients cultivate a winning mindset.
- Life Management – Balancing work, personal life, and self-care – equip them with practical tools.
- Personal Development – Empower transformation. Break barriers, unleash potential.
C: Communications
- Personal Brand – Define and articulate personal brands. Whether corporate executives or creative entrepreneurs, guide them.
- Linguistics – Elevate language skills – eloquence, clarity, and impact.
- Paralanguage – Tone, pitch, and nonverbal cues matter. Train clients to communicate effectively.
- Networking – Handshakes, elevator pitches, and small talk – prepare them for networking success.
- Listening – Teach the art of attentive listening.
- Presentation – From boardrooms to public platforms, hone their presentation skills.
- Interview Preparedness – Ace job interviews. Anticipate tough questions and build confidence.
- Interpersonal – Forge connections. Nurture professional relationships.
- Digital Etiquette – Decode social media norms. Help them navigate the digital landscape.
Image Consultants Provide:
1. Analysis – Image consultants meticulously assess various aspects, including undertone, style, wardrobe, makeup, and identify areas for transformation.

What is AICI? AICI is the Association of Image Consultants International. AICI is the leading and largest professional association of personal and corporate image consultants worldwide. Certification is not required to work as an image consultant. To achieve Certification through AICI, the levels in order of achievement are:
- Certified Image Consultant | AICI CIC
- Certified Image Professional | AICI CIP
- Certified Image Master | AICI CIM
For the requirements and applications, go to www.aici.org.
Once you have achieved certification, in order to maintain it you must achieve 2.4 AICI Continuing Education Units (CEUs) every 3 years, which is equivalent to 24 hours of training. Any CEUs acquired prior to certification cannot be used retroactively. Once you are certified, if you want to take a course that is not already authorized for AICI CEUs, you will need to apply to have it approved.
5. Develop your personal style
As an image consultant, your personal style is your calling card. Potential clients will judge your ability to help them based on how well you’ve put together your own look. Take some time to develop a personal style that reflects your taste and expertise.
6. Build your image consulting portfolio
Your portfolio is one of the most important tools you have as an image consultant. Start working with clients, even if it’s pro bono initially. Document your success stories and create a portfolio showcasing your expertise. Be sure to include before-and-after shots of clients so potential customers can see the transformation you’re capable of achieving.
7. Develop your branding
Now that you’ve got some experience and examples of your work to show potential clients, it’s time to develop your branding. This includes everything from choosing a business name and creating a logo to developing a website and social media presence. Your branding should reflect the style of the clients you want to attract and the image you want your business to project. Create packages and services and set your rates.
8. Market yourself
Attend industry events, join professional associations, and create an online presence. Use social media platforms to share valuable content related to image consulting. Make sure clients can easily find you online.
I wish you every success!
My objective is for you to live your passion, have the impact you want to make, and enjoy prosperity and success, by providing you with the training, systems, and tools to massively enhance, empower, and enrich your life and business as a transformation leader.
